OUR VISION
We are a friendly, growing congregation, united in our commitment to support and encourage individuals and families, both young and old, as disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ, to grow in love and faith, and to learn and live by the Word of the Lord.
STAFF
We were happy to meet our Vacancy Pastor Terrill Bramstedt

and his wife Mary on Sunday, June 30, 2024, as he led our worship service and joined us in the fellowship hall afterwards. A hearty welcome and thank you for leading us in the coming months as we search for our next pastor.

Pastor King served Immanuel Lutheran for over 8 years but recently announced that he will conclude his service at Immanuel as of June 23, 2024. Pastor King accepted a call closer to home and family. We thank the King family for their years of service and dedication to the community and wish them well as they start their new chapter in life.
Keep in contact with the Kings. Their new address is:
621 East Warren
Bunker Hill, IL 62014
Stacey (Luke) Kranz serves as secretary for Immanuel Lutheran Church and School.
Stacey will be in the school office from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm on school days. If there is something you need outside of these hours, she can be reached by calling the Church office, 507-237-2380, or School office, 507-237-2804, or email, and she will respond to your request/concern.
MUSIC LEADERS
Our organist for many, many years is Jeanne (Ron) Bruss. She also gives piano lessons. We have been blessed to have not only Jeanne on staff but two additional organists to serve at Immanuel. They are Michael Asmus, and more recently Jeanne (Ben) Holten has joined the Immanuel staff.
Others that add to our services with their special musical talents are the Directors and leaders of our Senior Choir – Shirley Kranz, and Bell Choirs – Ben Holten. Walt Asmus Jr. uses his trumpet often to add to our worship services and concerts. We are so blessed by their musical contributions to our worship. Praise the Lord!

IMMANUEL’S CIRCLES of VOLUNTEERS
Members of Immanuel are divided into eight circles. Each circle is led by two co-chairpersons. Circles are called into action by their chairperson whenever a need for volunteers is found. Each circle usually serves about once each year. Thank you, Lord, for providing willing hearts and hands to serve; and the special skills of leadership and organizing to our volunteer circle co-chairs. Members of Immanuel can find their circle by opening the link below.
HISTORY
The story of Immanuel Lutheran Church began in 1881. The first church was built in 1882 and dedicated on June 25, of that year–a year before the organization of the village of Gaylord. This building was also the first Christian Day School for children of the congregation.
By 1887 a larger church was deemed necessary. The congregation entered its new church on October 21st, 1888. The original church was used as a school until 1914 when it was moved three blocks to the east and became a privately owned home. It was replaced with a larger school house on the original site. An addition to the school was built in 1951.
After 74 years and many renovations the church building was again in need of replacement. On August 22nd, 1960, the congregation resolved to erect a new church on the same site as the old church. Our current church building was dedicated on March 24th, 1963.
A decision was made in 2012 that “Stepping Forward In Faith”, the congregation would begin raising funds to build a new school. After the old school was demolished, building began on the same site across High Avenue from the church. The new school building was dedicated and ready for the 2013-2014 school year.
